I have been doing a bit of "Christmasizing" around the house. It is always so much fun unwrapping little treasures like this one, that make you smile and remember... This makes me think of fun times with my dear friend Mary..We had such fun dyeing the tiny trees and making this sweet little vignette... 'Tis what this Holiday season is all about.. remembering friends.
Waiting for the first real snowfall of the year... yes, it's so much easier getting around when the ground is bear, but oh so magical to rise and see this scene that has fallen so silently during the nite..
Here are some of the little beasties that found homes last nite at our annual Holiday update.. Thank-you, one and all for making what we do such a treat! This is Sterling.. he's still trying to find the fish market w/o his companion Puddles. She has gone to live in California where the sun shines warmly on her.. and Sterling is stuck here in cold Michigan.. he is still looking for a home. Thanks Carol for giving Sterling a home . This is Roxy. She has been dancing around all morning and getting in the way of all the outgoing boxes... she is still waiting for a good home. Roxy will be dancing her way to a warmer climate! Thanks Jimsey.
They're all lining up to get their snapshots.. "me first they say". Of course these guys arent quite as rambuncious as those rowdy penguins, but they were out playing in the snow this morning... way before morning light.. They left melting footprints all thru the house.
Yes, it is that time of year once again, so mark your calender for our 11th Annual Holiday Update on Wednesday December 14th at 6pm std. This little fella is what's happening today in the studio. Of course, he will have a much larger personality by then.. 4 days and counting..
Now that the Holiday Season is here, I have been hard at work until the wee hours of the morning, with no end in sight. I have been trying to come up with an approximate date for our annual Holiday Update, and will post here as soon as I can narrow it down... I'm thinking' around the 11th or 13th. Notices will be sent to you, if you are on our email list. If not, email me, and we willl add you to the list. This is how the studio looks today.. bits and pieces of this at that everywhere.. It's a rather organized chaos tho... and just having all this Christmas hanging around me gets me more and more excited.. Some luck fella will surely end up with this little vintage tin train I found on my way back from West Virginia.. and how about the sweet little Atlantic City purse.. what a lucky little ted,who gets that, to be sure..
Meet Paul Gordon. He is such an amazing artist, as well as a very gracious host. Here is a lovely grouping of some of his treats.. And this is my good friend Leslie McCabe. She is a spectacular textile and jewelry artist. Her work can be seen at Earth Angels Toys This is Jody Battaglia.. Her work is the best, and it will always make you smile. Thanks Jody for making the road trip so much fun.
Dara is also another favotite of mine.. Why did I not get close-up shots of her great jewelry.. check her out. You may also see her work on Earth Angels site. Allen Cunningham's work is sooo spectacular.. it's all in the details, wouldnt you say.
Paul Gordon's window display in downtown ..this grand snow girl quickly found a home. Join me for a little tour moments before the show opened.. These guys were sitting atop a shelf and I couldnt help but take notice of their regal presence. Paul had some vintage treasures for sale, ready to tempt us all. This was the room moments before 9am.. how fun. Stay tuned for more from this special weekend!
Things are finally coming together in the studio...bears, bears and felted treats.. We hope that you can come to the Friends in Christmas Show on Saturday Nov 19th... here for directions.. I'm so looking forward to this weekend.
Getting together with friends is such a treat, especially around this time of year. We are having a very special gathering next weekend at the Friends in Christmas sale in Martinsburg WV Saturday Nov 19th. Artist Paul Gordon is hosting a small gathering of special artists just in time to begin your Holiday shopping. Paul Gordon's studio is chocked full of eye candy for all to see, and I am so anxious to join the party. Check it out for more info about the artists attending... you wont be disappointed... more info to follow....
Now that I've gotten my studio in order, I can finally begin working with a clear mind. These little fellas have been in the works for some time now, and at last, I can say they are "done"... I am getting things ready for a small show out east on Nov 19th..more on that tomorrow,
At last, I can say that it's looking pretty stellar in my studio.. I took a bit of a break to unpack a few Holiday decorations, you know to get me in the spirit.. so much to do. It's a brighter and cheerier space, and for that, I am pleased. This is a snippet from above my work space. It really makes me smile when I look up and see all their little faces. Getting things out for the Holidays, and working on some fun needle felted penguins. Such fun....
Call me a bit crazy as this November rolls around, but I know it's coming... the darkness that seems to envelope my whole world, and leave me a tad bit hoo hoo. So this year, I've taken a new stance... meet it head on and merrily count the days down until there is more sunshine and light.. thus I am redoing my studio. First of all, let me say...never try to spraypaint your countertop.. Yes, I know, it sounds like a quick solution.. just change it from dark and gloomy, to white.. did that... oh my, it was soooo NOT a quick fix.. do not believe those spray cans that tell you.. "will cover any surface.." I should also tell you that my good natured parter, Tom, also told me "no, no".... so now he has ever so patiently ripped off the old, and installed a new white counter, new and brighter lighting, and with that pretty fabric (shown above), I have made some nice under the counter curtains, and how nice is that checkerboard floor. It's looking much brighter in my world today! More on this tomorrow.
We live out where no trick or treater's ever come, so my friend invited us to join them for a bit of a change. See that pretty woman there with the long hair...this is my friend.. ahhh, yes, this is a better photo of Kristen. She is dressed as a very pregnant woman... actually, she didnt need a costume, as she is due in 5 weeks...check out her very handsome dog, Hudson.. he is a rescue dog, and oh so sweet. these are two of her children (the two on the left)... my favorite kids in Michigan! Of we cannot forget about Mason.. he came up with a very impressive costume all by himself.. we had a splendid nite.. I hope that yours was as much fun.
Thank you all for appreciating what I love to do... you all make it so much fun .. we all hope you have a spooktacular (soory, couldn't help mysef) Halloween.. here are some of the guys from last nite.. a few are still waiting for good homes
