It's a late night here in the studio and it's been one of those kind of days....we've become so dependent on electronic devices and I have to say, a dead I phone is not the way to begin your day. So here I find myself, at this late hour, trying to catch up. That said, I won't be posting on Instagram. For some reason, I am
unable to download the app right now.
On a much brighter note, this fella has been pleasing me a lot. He has such a sweet disposition and has made my day much brighter !!!!
I've always been intrigued with making pots... Most any kind of pot is good in my eyes. I signed up for a pottery class and this is technically my first pot.. Well, there were many others before this, but actually throwing a pot and completing it are two different things! Fun stuff.
this splendid season and are as anxious as I to begin decorating and making lists!
On the top of my list is creating a few timeless treasures to place under my tree, as well as under a few others. That's right, I have been itching to create again, doing some things that have been rolling around in my head for some time now...
We will be having a Holiday Update in a few weeks, so if you are not on our email list, just pop us a note @ firstname.lastname@example.org
We will send out notices as soon as we can nail down a date.
Until then, I hope that your lists grow shorter and your days grow brighter...
Ok, well I really didn't go on any spring break, but I just DID download a blogger apt on my phone!! I feel like this might be a game changer for me, seriously. Our computer runs only when it feels so inclined, and there seems to be a lot of hocus pocus involved whenever I am sitting in front of it. I feel that it might not be the only dinosaur in the room, but we keep on plodding along on this new road we 're traveling on.
My new studio in the carriage house has not been moving forward as there is so much to do to here to feel settled in our new home.
That said, I have been slowly working on a few pieces, getting back into creating again.
For those of you that follow this blog, I hope to begin making regular entries again.
That's it folks..... Time to take this boy out for a stroll.....
It"s difficult to imagine that spring is actually here!!! I began decorating a bit, here and there, and much to my surprise, I am missing a whole box of bunnies... oh where oh where can they be, I ask myself at 2 am...
and I roll over to ponder that subject in the morning..
Ok, It's been some time now, and although I have not found my box of misplaced (now totally lost), bunnies, eggs and chicks, I am moving on...
I have also realized that I need a calendar.. no, not one on my phone. I need a real live paper version of a calendar.. the visual kind that's in your face to remind you of up and coming events.. and how those up and coming events are only days away.. speaking of which, as I take a break from my sewing, I am making bunnies... as noted above, I seem to be obsessed with the four legged fellas right now, and now, I'm back to the calendar thing... oh gheez, is Easter really only a week away????
Ok, the long and short of this .... we will be having our Annual Spring Web Update:
Tuesday, April 15th, 5pm Central time..
And guess what???? we will be show casing our new line of, you guessed it... bunnies... and of course,
Wishing that I could join my friends in Costa Mesa this weekend... who in their right mind wouldn't be leaving Minnesota for sunny southern California, I ask myself.. Well here at Murphybear's we just aren't quite back into the swing of things, but wishing Jody, Paul, and Allen the best! Their works are shockly amazing, so if you can go, it is certainly a fun time..

Have a fun time everyone ... wishing you the best!!!
Putting the inevitable off for a few days by finally finishing this old quilt top that I've had forever. My dear friend back in Michigan runs a small quilting business out of her home. Last summer I dropped this old quilt top on her doorstep. No hurry I said.. and last week, it reappeared on my doostep. What a great surprise, and just in time to wrap myself up in it's beauty and warmth. I have almost finished sewing on the binding... It's a lovely thing, right? I found the quilt top about 20 years ago at my favorite outdoor market, and it has been neatly tucked away in my closet of old... funny how moves make you face your demons.. and with that comment, and in the same breath, please take note that I have not exactly jumped in to my temporary studio space with great gusto...things are still piled high and I really must get "with it"... there's no time like the present, right????? maybe today....
Today ... ahhhh, our 2nd day of above freezing all winter.. This was been the winter of all winters, to be sure...but today gives me hope that there might be an end in sight.. I've been trying to fiqure out what my life is going to look like here.. I have been a bit freaked out and really missing our acreage and the countryside that so defind who I was.... that said, and moving on, Oscar and I have been looking for that place of refuge here in this lovely town of Stillwater... It's been sooo frigid and icy here that our walks have been at bit limited, but today was an adventure. The snow is deep but we found a trail that took us out and about thru ravens and around a wetland .. ah yes, back to familarity.. change is hard they say, and it makes one grow.. yes, it does....
The sky is so blue here this morning on this special day in February.... brownies are baking in the oven, and all my valentine's are ready to be shared with my family. Everyone here has been cutting and pasting for weeks.. Oh it's grand having grandchildren close at hand. Their excitement is contagious, and (no pun intended)... heart warming.. wishing you all, blue skies, and family, friends and lovers to share this special day with, and of course, a plate full of brownies..
I really must buy myself a calender to keep track of things... All my frends laugh at me for not ever knowing what day it is.. That said, with Valentines' Day looming large, we are feverously getting ready for our
Valentine's Day web updatehttp://murphybears.com/ this Monday tomorrow) February 10th, 7pm Central time, 6pm Eastern time.. come and join in the fun..
The studio is still is shambles as we moved the computer out to make more room for creativity.. That said, there are stacks of boxes and bins everywhere.. This is my 1st attempt in preparing for one of my favorite
times of year. I love Valentine's Day. Yes, I do.. with all it's hearts and flowers.. what's there not to love about LOVE I say? I have been caught up in my love affair with dogs and of course birds. I have been missing my birds from Michigan and hoping that they are being cared for in this harshest of winters. We set up a bird feeder here, but havent seen the vast numbers that I was hoping for...
Back to moving, sorting and a little dyeing of more roving..
Stay warm everyone. Hasn't this been the craziest of winters??? I can hardly wait for some "good news " from Mr groundhog and then onto Valentine's Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a bit chilly here this morning and the snow is coming down. This was the view from my bedroom window.. I did consider requesting "room service".. A good day to stay tucked in my cozy bed. After numerous cups of nice hot tea, I'm ready to tackle a make shift studio of some sort. Come spring we hope to begin work on my studio in the 2nd floor of the carriage house, but for now being warm and cozy inside will work just fine... is it warm anywhere out there??? Please send it my way...
It's been a long journey that has taken over 9 months...(this moving thing).. but alas, we moved into our new
old house in mid November just before Thanksgiving. We now live in Minnesota, a long distance from Michigan, but being close to family is great. There are still so many boxes to unpack, a studio to build and set up.. oh yes, we will be very busy in this new year of 2014. Thank you one and all for your emails, and if I failed to answer one, please forgive me. It's been a bit of a whirlwind adventure. I am just amazed that it has taken so long to find myself.. Hoping that in this new year, I can share with you many more creations and day to day activities of setting up and making a new place called home.. I've missed you, one and all..
