This is the quilt that I DID finish for Claude just days before Christmas. I wasnt sure that it would be completed in time, but it turned out pretty cool I think. It's called a snowball quilt, and for those of you who can visualize quilt parts in pieces...well, more power to you. I have the hang of it now, and might attempt another, now that I understand how the pieces work together.I do rather like the randomness of it all. I am an electic sew'er, and wanted it to be just lighter centers, but it might be interesting to have all the centers similar. There are just 2 size pieces that you work with, and it's a great way to use up those little tidbits of fabric that you just cant bear to part with. The large square is 4 1/4" and the small square is 1 3/4". You will need four small sqaure for each larg square. I have a friend who does machine quilting if you are looking for someone, I can email you her information. I can highly recommend her. Well, now's the time to get out all your fav fabrics... happy sewing...
Claude's new quilt is beautiful. I love the soft yellow coming from the back and bordering the blocks. Your grandson is so adorable.

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Pat!!!! I've never tried this design but I think you've inspired me to do so. I have a whole garbage bag full of scraps....I just can't part with them. I've been known to us 1" wide strips for my log cabin quilts just to use them up. I hate to be wasteful...LOL. :0)

I would love to make one for my baby and am wondering if you might share a few more details on how you made it. How many squares long and wide is it? What about the fabric you used - about how much for the squares and how much for the back? Also, where did you get the fabric? It is amazing! What kind of batting did you use? Was there any pattern to the way you chose the fabric for the squares? I would so appreciate any more tips you could offer before I begin this project. Thank you so much! -Brooke
