Ahh... the dog days of summer are certainly apon us..and the 4th of July is right around the corner.. Summer is such a jolt of activity everywhere.. Join us tonite with your cold beverage of choice... The party begins promptly at 6. Happy 4th to you all.
Here's what's happening today in the studio.. I do love this color combo... I hand dyed the blue. Such a great color... my working space is getting smaller and smaller.. you'd think maybe I could work in a space larger than 12x12...(that's inches). It's the crazy in me I think. Good thing the camera doesn't take panoramic pictures.
So simple... and it's the best.. 8 large stalks of rhubarb, chopp, add 8 cups of water, simmer for 1 hour. put through a sieve, add 1/3 cup sugar. Chill.. add mint. It's the best on a hot summers day.
Last weekend I participated in an event at our local petco.I do some volunteer work for Last Day Dog Rescue, and this handsome fella was my dog for the event. Isnt he a looker? His blue eyes were stunning. Turns out he was a very lucky guy. A newly graduated vet student came in and fell in love with him. She filled out her application and is anxiously awaiting her new friend... Happy ending....wish they all could find homes that quickly...
This little guy has something to smile about.. I just had to make him a dotted shirt. He has a sweet little sailor collar too, and I've found him a little carved wooden sailboat to take out on weekends. He's a pretty happy guy.
A felted Murphy Bear? I've been wanting to make a needle felted bear for some time now, and I finally found just the motivation.. I love this story, and the graphics just make me crazy.. Johnny Gruelle was always one of my favorites back in the Raggedy Ann and Andy days. For those of you who aren't sure... that's a long time ago. I ran across this book a few years back in a sweet little antique shop in southern Pennsylvania... what a score.. it's taken me 4 hrs to get to this point.. now to tackle his sweet demeanor....
I love waking up in the morning to the heady fragrance of peonies. One must take advantage of these lovely blooms..even in the bath. This is my kitchen window display.. always showcasing what's in bloom for the week.. Can you almost smell these? I do love this time of year, and peonies make it all the more special.. they're easy to grow, and couldn't make a prettier bouquet..
